“Everyone has a story” - Maur Valance at Thursday’s Colour Walk.

This is one of the main reasons I have become a professional portrait photographer. Everyone has a story to tell, and I am fascinated by everyone’s stories when they share them with me. My job as a portrait photographer is to create visual storytelling through their photoshoots, providing them with a set of photos that they love.

This is also a main reason why I keep returning to the Colour Walk in London. The Colour Walk is a monthly meetup of artists and creatives in London’s Spitalfields market. This was my third time to the Colour Walk, I went with London Photographic. It was the best time I’ve had there yet. I connected with a few new people I met on Thursday, which was wonderful. When I started this portrait photography journey years ago, nobody told me that to be at your best, you also had to come out of your shell. I should have figured that out, but I’ve quickly learned. I’ve met so many wonderful, interesting and creative people on my journey. I also believe in sharing my experiences with them (it doesn’t always have to be a one-way street in telling stories) you can build that trust and connection. Of course, if someone isn’t wanting to share that much about themselves, that’s also fine. I realise that photography can be deeply personal, and whatever anyone is comfortable with sharing is fine.
